SAFETY.

THE CLEVER DRIVING APPROACH.

With its easy handling, who would think so much thought had gone into it? The new MINI John Cooper Works Paceman not only drives like a thoroughbred sports car; it also conveys a remarkable sense of safety. Both active and passive.

ACTIVE SAFETY.

PREVENTION.

Thinking on its feet. The new MINI John Cooper Works Paceman has the latest safety technology built-in so it can react to the driving conditions, come what may.

BRAKING SYSTEM.

Latest generation 4-sensor ABS brakes with Cornering Braking Control and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution provide control and stability while cornering, braking at high speeds and when you're loaded up. With 17" discs, the new MINI John Cooper Works Paceman brakes are perfectly adapted to suit the power of the model, and its braking system is designed to cope with repeated intense use, without noise or juddering.

ASC+T.

Automatic Stability Control + Traction (ASC+T), prevent the front wheels from spinning, guaranteeing ideal starting conditions and plenty of traction.

DSC.

Standard-feature Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) prevents unstable driving situations by intervening in the engine management and, if necessary, by applying braking force to individual wheels at the front or rear. DSC also includes Hill Assist.

DTC.

Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) lets the driver actively make use of the self-steering properties of the MINI. Electronic Differential Lock Control (EDLC) recognises when the wheel slip is too high on the inside wheel during cornering and applies braking force for optimum handling on bends and different road surfaces.

DYNAMIC BRAKE LIGHT.

Dynamic brake lights fitted to the new MINI John Cooper Works Paceman generate a clear warning signal for traffic behind, when sudden, powerful braking is required - in the tail-end of a motorway traffic jam, for example. Automatically activated hazard warning lights then help diffuse the critical situation.

FAST AIRBAGS.

In addition to driver, front passenger and side airbags, curtain airbags come as standard. These pillow-like airbags cover the top half of the side windows in the front, guaranteeing impact protection and safeguarding against injuries from flying glass.

STRONG TYRES.

Changing flat tyres in dangerous situations becomes a thing of the past with the built-in Tyre Pressure Indicator. But, if you get one, optional Runflat Tyres on 17" and 18" wheels can keep you driving with a flat tyre for up to 80km at speeds of 80km/h. Keeping you in control even with a sudden loss of tyre pressure.

PASSIVE SAFETY.

PROTECTION.

The latest safety equipment and new design features prepare the new MINI John Cooper Works Paceman to combat any challenges that come its way.

BRILLIANT LIGHTS.

Optimum light on straights and bends alike – thanks to the optional bi-xenon headlights, which adapt to the direction of the road.

RIGID BODY.

Front, back and sides, the rigid body of the new MINI John Cooper Works Paceman protects the precious cargo within. High-strength, hot-formed steel adds extra safety against side-on collisions, a hybrid steel-plastic front panel adds strength around the engine and wheel arches, and structural measures in the front roof section ensure maximum safety for occupants in the case of rollover. The new MINI John Cooper Works Paceman also has a safety steering column with an integrated crash element, allowing the column to move up to 80 mm in the case of a collision, preventing injury to the driver's chest.

AGILE CHASSIS.

Thanks to the multilink rear axle, each wheel can react independently, meaning that an uneven road surface doesn't affect the entire chassis − and that your driving experience remains as relaxed as ever. Even more safety is provided by the single-link spring-strut front axle and symmetrical, equal-length drive shafts.
